Teen Thunder cars:
Cars must be street legal
for make and model. Passenger cars only. No convertibles,
vans, trucks,
4 cylinder only No turbos
No superchargers
Front or rear drive
Ride height will be no lower
than 6” to the lowest point of the frame. NO RACING
SPRINGS. WITH CAR ON JACK, THE SPRING IS NOT ALLOWED TO MOVE
IN THE POCKET. Ride height must be within ½ inch on
both sides.
Tires and Wheels:
Any 60 series radial with minimum DOT 300 Treadwear rating
only
Treadwear must be stamped on casing
Wheel size must be stock for vehicle. Steel or aluminum wheels
only. Peanuts may not use after market wheels.
Maximum tread width of seven inches allowed on tires. All
tires on the car must be the same size and same series tires.
(for example: all 175 or all 185, etc.) No recaps. 2-4 ply
tires only. No liquid filled, air filled only. No Goodyear
Eagles allowed. All hubcaps must be removed.
Cars with over 103” wheelbase must run in the Wildcat
division.
Cars with 103” or less wheelbase will run in the Peanut
and Teen divisions. Peanut and Teens cars are 4 cylinder only
Body:
4-point cage – no hoops in front or rear
Bumpers must remain stock. No altering or reinforcing allowed.
Bumpers must be stock height for make and model of car. Bumper
covers mandatory at all times.
No pipe in front or rear
No rub-rails allowed
Single roll bar or more allowed behind driver’s head
MANDATORY: all cars will have tow points/hooks front and rear
All doors must be welded shut.
Back of rear seat MUST be replaced with sheet metal
Passenger seat and rear seat must be removed
No body alterations allowed.
Dashboards can be removed for installation of cage.
Steering columns must remain in place.
All window glass (except for windshield), headlights and marker
lights must be removed from car before it will be allowed
to compete.
Glass windshields are allowed or replaced with Lexan
Aluminum racing seats allowed.
(Recommended) New fiberglass seats allowed with 12”
x 12” plates sandwiching seats.
Battery must be removed from engine compartment and installed
in car on passenger side. Must be securely mounted in a battery
box.
All floor carpets and bottom of rear seats must be removed.
All cars must have four wheel brakes in proper working order
Fuel cells must be mounted
in center of trunk (no offset). Fuel tanks and fuel cells
must be securely mounted in the trunk area. Boat tanks must
be in canister of no less than .22 gauge steel. Two stock
and two extra straps required on fuel tanks if left stock
location.
All running gear must remain
completely stock for year and make of car.
No Limited Slip Differentials. No locked rear ends
No lead for weight allowed.
No Anti-freeze allowed. KEEP
COOL or water only. Cars must have an overflow jug in working
order.
All lug nuts and studs must
be on car at all times. (1” recommened)
All vehicles found out of
stock will be disqualified
ALL CARS MUST REMAIN STOCK
Safety:
All drivers must wear a DOT approved helmet.
Racing harnesses must have a date of manufacture not more
than six (6) years old mandatory unless approved by Safety
Team
Fireproof racing suits required
All cars must have an operative 3# fire extinguisher with
gauge mounted in a metal bracket within reach of the driver.
Gauge must read full or empty. No plastic fuel filters –
metal only.
Window nets required (ribbon or mesh). No string nets allowed.
Nets must be clip only, no cotter pin or bolts in net rod
Teen Drivers Eligibility:
ALL TEEN DRIVER ELIGIBILITY IS UP TO THE DISCRESTION AND APRROVAL
OF THE RACE DIRECTOR AND THE TRACK MANAGEMENT.
Ages 11 to 16 years only (must show proof of age and have
a 2007 signed minor release on file)
Age 17 if this is first time racing ever
Any Teen racer who has finished in the top 3 for overall points
in previous year is no longer eligible to race in Teen division
Teen driver cannot have raced in any other division ever.
If Teen driver races in an upper division at any track, then
the Teen driver is no longer eligible to race in the Teen
division
Roll cage for Wildcats, Peanuts and Teen Divisions:
1. A 4-point cage is recommended for all classes/divisions.
2. An X must be placed between the rear uprights, or a horizontal
bar may be used to join the two rear uprights at the bottom
with a diagonal bar joining the top and bottom horizontal
bars
3. 3 bars running between front and rear uprights are required
on the driver’s side, 4 is recommended. These bars must
be padded.
4. A minimum of three horizontal bars or an X is required
on the passenger side of the vehicle.
5. A horizontal bar between the two front uprights just above
or below the dashboard is required.
6. Forward or rearward bars attached to the main uprights
are NOT allowed.
7. The roll cage may not reinforce the body or frame or alter
the geometry of the vehicle.
8. Roll bars may NOT extend through the firewalls
9. All vehicles with frames must have the roll cage welded
directly to the frame NOT the floorboards
10. All vehicles without frames must use the sandwich method
in the roll cage to secure the roll cage to the vehicle.
